Production Process

Hot extrusion technology can be used to produce profiled bars with complex geometries using a wide range of steel grades.

As a forming technique hot extrusion offers substantial advantages over hot rolling, forging or machining, making it easier to meet all a project’s cost, structural and visual requirements, and allowing even small volumes of special profiles to be produced economically.

BENEFIT

Hot extruded profiles offer following benefits:

  • Near-Net Shape
  • Unchanged mechanical properties
  • Wide range of geometrical shapes
  • Reduce machining time
  • Project specific order quantity
  • Low cost of tooling
  • Wide choice of steel and titanium grades

HOT EXTRUSION

During hot extrusion a round steel billet is pre-heated and, after leaving the furnace, pressed through a forming die into a profile bar using a ram with an extrusion force of 1950 t.

CEFIVAL possesses highly sophisticated CAD to provide its customers with support from the earliest stages of the design and engineering phases.

FURTHER PROCESSING

To round off our production program, we also offer our customers, in collaboration with our partner companies, the following additional processing steps:

STRETCHING / STRAIGHTENING / SAWING / HEAT TREATMENT / SURFACE TREATMENT / BENDING / WELDING / GRINDING / TURNING

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

CEFIVAL has a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 certification and has a continuous improvement policy. Furthermore, CEFIVAL operates quality management to EN 9100 and NADCAP certification standards.

CEFIVAL is a qualified supplier to Safran, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and many others.

The following tests can also be carried out, if required:

  • dimensional inspection
  • mechanical test
  • chemical analysis or spectrography
  • metallographic testing
  • non-destructive testing
